Reform Rent Control

The cost of living in Jersey City is rising, and Jake is committed to revising our rent control ordinances to cover more residents.

Right now rent control ordinances apply only to buildings with 5 or more units. This excludes many brownstone apartments Downtown. Jake supports lowering that number to cover more residents, while still protecting the rights of owners that may live on their rental property.

Jersey City has an Office of Landlord/Tenant Relations. Jake wants to push for more resources for this office when our city budget is proposed. With the proper resources, this office can be a true ombudsman between renters and their landlords.
